Activity summary
This fun competitive activity can be played one-on-one or in groups. Players work on racket skills and depth perception by aiming to get sponge balls into a bucket.
Activity setup
- Pairs or groups in available space; each player with a racket, one bucket, and sponge balls.

- Players stand ~1.5 m from a central bucket.
- Bounce the ball, then hit under it to land it into the bucket.
- Set challenges: race to empty all balls, timed count, partner duel, etc.

Make it easier
- Remove rackets and allow underhand throws into the bucket.
- Reduce distance to the bucket or use larger balls.
Make it harder
- Increase distance from player to bucket.
- Use smaller buckets for greater challenge.
- Limit allowed bounces before counting a miss.
Safety
Use the STEP framework—Space, Time, Equipment, People—to adapt difficulty.
Ensure clear space around the bucket and that under-18s wear protective goggles.
